AUDITIONS
Auditions are held at the Singers Academy on an on-going basis. Entrance to some programmes is by audition and interview.

FEES
All fees are payable in advance. For Special Programmes, students also have the option to pay monthly by standing order. Those who wish to take this option will be required to pay the first term fees as usual but may then spread the cost of the rest of the course.
Students who pay termly must pay on or before the first day of each term. One terms notice is required of withdrawal from the course or one terms fees are payable in lieu of such notice.
NB: Acceptance of a place in writing constitutes a contract binding you to payment of the first term's fee. Attendance on the first or any subsequent day of term involves commitment to the second term's fees , unless notice of withdrawal is given on or before the first day of the second term.
Black Women in the Arts is a registered company by guarantee and no profit is drawn. All fees must be paid on or before the due date and no student is allowed to attend sessions if fees are outstanding .

HOW TO GET ONTO A PROGRAMME
- Call Black Women in the Arts and request a booking form on 020 7923 7658
- Write to Black Women in the Arts detailing which course you would like to participate in and enclose a cheque for full payment or 50% deposit to cover part of the fee.

KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER FOR AUDITIONS
- Practice before the audition to make sure your act is ready
- Singers backing tracks, must be instrumental or have backing vocals ONLY
- Don't choose a song which stretches your vocal abilities past it limits
- Tapes\CD'S must be labelled with the name of the act and name of the track
- If providing a tape, the song should be at the beginning of side A or B. We will not rewind your tape.
- Be well presented, smart appearance is a must
- Arrive at least fifteen minutes before your audition
- Look interested, smile we will enjoy your performance if you are having a good time
- If you have auditioned previously to us, use new material or change the old material to ensure it is dynamic
- DO NOT CHEW GUM
- The act must be no more than 5 minutes long
- Everyone who is performing in the act should turn up for the audition
- There is no point stating that the others in the act are not at the audition
- The performance is judged on the people who have attended the audition
- Any concerns or questions should be raised with Black Women in the Arts representative.
We have listed these points to help you prepare for the audition. We recognise that performers will be nervous but this should be reduced if you practice your act regularly.
