This award acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of black women as artistes. It takes place annually usually in March.

WHY THE AWARDS

Black Women in the Arts recognises the substantial contribution made by Black aspiring female artistes. These female artistes' influence in the UK is growing rapidly and their increased prominence in British culture and lifestyle is evident.

CRITERIA

All categories are open to black women 16 years and upwards, from the African Diaspora – British-Black, Black-African, Black-Caribbean

This award is open to Aspiring female artistes who have been performing for two years or more.

AWARD CATEGORIES

  • Aspiring female singer

  • Aspiring female poet

  • Aspiring female storyteller

HOW TO NOMINATE

Nominations are welcome from any individual, group or organisation in Britain and must meet the criteria. Self-nomination is also welcome.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Nomination can be submitted in the month of January in the year of the award in writing stating:

  • Name of the artistes being nominated
  • Award category or categories
  • Confirmation from the artistes stating their willingness to be nominated
  • Full contact details of the artistes including, mobile, and email address
  • When is the best time to contact the artistes
  • Where and when you last saw the artistes performed
  • Why you are nominating the artistes
  • Your name and full contact details.

The panel is represented by, independent individual artistes and non-artistes. The decision of the panel is final.
