What-ever kind of management you choose, you want to be certain that you have chosen the management that is right for you, but also right for your artistic career.
Choosing a family or friend as your manager can have two outcomes, success or disaster – you won’t find out which one until you have walk the walk. Equally choosing a management company also has its success and failures. In short there is no certainty about how things will work out between you and your management regardless of who you have chosen.
As a new artiste attracting a big name manager is difficult and is becoming increasingly harder.
What is certain though is that having a skilled and knowledgeable individual or company to represent you can help you on the road to being a successful artiste. How then do you go about choosing a manager for you and your art?
We can help you sort through some of the considerations and complexities in thinking this through for example:
- What characteristic to look for in a manager?
- When might you want to consider having a manager?
- Should you ask your husband, brother or friend to be your manager?
- What are the pros and cons of having a manager?
- Is my manager obliged to do as I ask?
and many more questions you have felt uncertain or afraid to ask.
